This is one of my favorite cases because it brings together many problems that we face in the field of orthodontics. This little girl suffered from thumb-sucking habit for a long time, her parents have only noticed this after her front teeth has severly protruded, and a clear slit between the upper and lower front teeth has appeared, which we call the open front bite.
When examining the case, I noticed a severe narrowing in the upper jaw in addition to the previous problems, which were all expected results due to the thumb sucking habit.
In the first stage of treatment, my efforts were focused on expanding the upper jaw, and stopping the thumb sucking habit by means of special pieces that are attached to the teeth, so that our little friend remembers when she puts her finger in her mouth and immediately removes it.

After 24 months of orthodontic treatment, the open bite was treated, the upper jaw was expanded, and the teeth protrusion was treated too, in addition to the finger-sucking habit.

All of this was done successfully and without any need for tooth extraction.
And our little friend could smile with confidence again
